Traditional food is getting replaced by fast food in many countries. Some argue that this change has a negative effect on families and society. I agree because traditional eating customs allowed families and communities to bond during meal times and fast food is mitigating this opportunity.
On one hand, fast food may seem convenient because it’s filling, delicious and easily accessible. It provides nutrition and energy when there’s no such option as cooking. Although this argument is valid, there are other nuances that make fast food harmful to society.
On the other hand, fast food ruins family customs of having a nice conversation in the evening over the dinner table since everyone just snacks outside nowadays.
Instead of spending quality time with their closest family, people now prefer to drive up to a closest McDonald and enjoy a burger in the parking lot. Moreover, fast food industry also harms society because of obesity. Many fast food locations offer delicious, but extremely high calorie foods, a single piece of cake from Crumbl Cookies could reach as much as average person’s daily calorie intake. This issue has clear evidence in countries where fast food restaraunt are practically on every corner. For instance,In the U.S obesity has affected more than the half of the country’s population. Obesity leads to major health problems. The most common health problem caused by it is heart disease which can sometimes lead to lethal consequences.
To conclude, I believe that fast food industry has negative effects on family and society, such as lack of communication between family members and obesity.
