It’s often argued that fast food is currently popular in the market, replacing traditional food, and this trend is having harmful consequences for both families and society. Although this trend may offer certain benefits, I believe that its drawbacks outweigh its benefits.
Admittedly, one of the main benefits of replacing traditional food with fast food is that it may provide consumers a better quality of life in the long term. This is because fast food is more affordable and time-saving. As modern life becomes increasingly fast-paced, which puts people under pressure, convenient food becomes a suitable option for poor-time individuals. Thus, they can allocate more time to other meaningful activities and strike a better work-life balance. When this equality continues, it can mitigate the risk of burnout and boost their productivity, leading to a better income. Consequently, individuals can maintain a healthier mindset and achieve a higher quality of life.
However, I believe that this replacement of traditional cuisine with ready-made meals can have harmful effects on both family and society in the long term. This is because fast foods are convenient, people eat them at different times of day, while preparing traditional meals often requires time cooking together, which is an important opportunity for family members to interact . When family members spend less time gathering, cooking and eating together, they have fewer opportunities to communicate with others, share their stories and feelings, and learn valuable experiences from their relatives. As this problem continues, it may loosen emotional bonds among family members. In addition, replacing home-cooked meals with convenience meals is an unhealthy habit. When people get into the habit of consuming fast food instead of traditional food, their risk of obesity becomes higher, leading to a greater likelihood of cardiovascular and digestive diseases. Once these issues continue, the government has to allocate a large budget to healthcare services in the long term, posing a burden to society.
In conclusion, although this replacement may offer some benefits, I completely agree that this trend has negative consequences on both families and society.
