Band 5+: Modern societies produce a vast amount of waste due to the increased consumption of cheap, disposable goods. What problems does this "throwaway" culture cause, and how can individuals and governments work together to promote a more sustainable lifestyle?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent years, overconsumption has become an increasingly common issue in many parts of the world. This essay will examine the main problems associated with this problem and suggest several possible solutions.

One of the main causes of the issue is that people are probably influenced by social media. What I mean by this is that customers see innumerable advertising on TikTok or YouTube. Then they are staring want more and more products because they desires to keep up with trends. As a result, individuals buy large amount of useless items despite a sensible mind. For example, some women spend a lot of money on giant count of makeup products because see those on social media. They probably do not need it and expiration date ends fastly. A solution is for the influencers to promote buy only what is indeed necessary.

Another reason is the cheapness of many products. That is to say, low prices encourage people to buy more than they actually need. This often leads to pollution and single use of products. For, instance people evidently replace a broken thing, than fix it because they easily buy a new and cheep item. This problem could be addressed by new eco-friendly programmes. Educational events are a beneficial opportunity to develop customer’s knowledge about reusing products.

In conclusion, although overconsumption poses a number of challenges, these can be mitigated by addressing their underlying causes. In particular, inventing a ecology programmes and propaganda of responsible consumption could play a crucial role in reducing the negative impact of this issue and improving the situation in the long term.
