In recent years, large-scale waste generation across the globe has turned into one of the most serious problems. This alarming trend can definitely contribute to global pollution and harm living creatures. However, both governments and individuals can take steps to address this issue.
Throughout the world, people are now producing an excessive amount of garbage because of the widespread availability of cheap, single-use products in daily life. No doubt, there are significant consequences if no action is taken. The first major negative impact is global pollution. According to recent research, nearly 50% of the marine life itself suffers from thrown litter, causing the loss of many species. Another major consequence is the loss of natural habitats, as well as increased health problems such as respiratory diseases. Millions of people globally suffer from respiratory issues and allergies exacerbated by the accumulation of waste. Moreover, Governments are being forced to make separate places for waste disposal, which ultimately causes the loss of habitats where microorganisms exist.
Despite the severity of the problems, there are certain measures that could change this situation. From the government’s perspective, they should implement policies against throwaway culture in high-traffic areas. Passing a law would be a viable solution. If people become careless about their environments, and continue throwing waste away, there should be heavy fines to prevent such a situation from happening again. In addition to government actions, individuals should also be responsible for protecting their surroundings. Individuals play a crucial role in environmental degradation due to irresponsible behavior. They have to stop throwing garbage. Since it is impossible to eliminate waste completely, many factories recycling waste should be supported and subsidized by governments, resulting in a smaller amount of waste.
In conclusion, although there are clear drawbacks from producing waste, the steps – introducing laws, imposing fines and encouraging individual responsibility and supported factories – can be taken to mitigate the problem
