As the world develops and younger generations come of age, people over the age of 50 are less likely to find a job.
The world nowadays is powered by new technologies and in most cases AI. No matter what your speciality is, you must have basic knowledge on using computers or making power point presentations. The number of companies using AI on daily bases increased. AI can now write, read and analyze texts, summarize the information, create designs and much more. It is not very common for older people to know how to use such technologies despite the fact that they must work fast with the given modern tools.
What many companies demand are fresh new ideas, and who else will give them if not younger generations. They think, work and learn in a short period of time. And as someone who was born in the decade of technology growth, a twenty something employee is advanced in the usage of many different platforms, programs and websites. Which gives them a higher chance of getting hired for the same position as a person over 50.
In my opinion one of the most useful measures that could be taken is keeping older workers as sort of mentors for the younger ones. Who else has a bigger and fuller working experience if not somebody who worked there for a long time. These people know how to communicate, what benefits the company, what sells the best, what sells the worst. They work by their memory and past experiences, by learning lessons from the past mistakes. They have more to teach than any AI could ever advise.
In conclusion, the system nowadays requires balance. Both age groups will benefit the company if you work with them correctly.
