In recent times, traditions are fading away in some countries across the globe, and several measures need to be put in place so as to preserve people’s original way of life.
The current loss in national traditions stern’s from the fact that history as a subject is not inculcated in school curricula, hence the young generation cannot give account give a strict account of their previous history and reasons for their cultural heritage.
However, considering this age of technological advancements some tools such as the social media can be used to promote the traditional values of a group of people. For example, influencers and highly placed individuals in the community through the help of social media space, can put out writeup and upload videos to their handles such as Instagram, Facebook, twitter etc, in other to educate the population about their historical adventures and also uniting one another by doing so.
Furthermore, the government can play a major role in achieving this goal, and this can be done by observing public holidays for its citizens in a bid to celebrate prior historical achievements and to also mark important remembrance of several events that has contributed to national growth. A suitable example is the Nigerian independence day, and this is observed every first day of the month of October annually. More so every 12th day of June marks the Nigerian day of democracy yearly since its inception in 2015.
To sum it up, the cultures and traditions of a population is a constant reminder to such a demographic, about their foot prints in the sands of history.
