In contemporary world, with the advent of technology, many things we were accustomed to have started to become outdated. Some individuals assume that teaching kids the skill of handwriting is no longer essential. While it’s true that computers and electronic devices have made our lives much easier, I FIRMLY believe that handwriting skills may have some advantages for children’s mental health.
To begin with, THE recent research indicates that writing has a huge impact on people’s mental well-being and ability to think. Since our writing speed on paper is slower compared to typing on keyboard, it makes us think about what we wrote and see the big picture. It allows us to analyze each sentence and often leads us to new and improved ideas. Many writers and scientists always preferred taking notes by hand rather than electronic tools.
Additionally, when you take notes on paper, you’ll be more likely to remember them afterwards because of eye VISUAL/SIGHT memory. Due to the slower pace of handwriting, your brain has more time to process information. This helps you remember where each word is located, making it easier to memorize. This effect is known as muscle memory and allows people to recall specific details by visualizing where they are written.
In conclusion, it’s true that handwriting takes some time and might not be as efficient as electronic devices, but indeed its benefits on children’s analytical skills are undeniable. It’s good to embrace innovations quickly but for some things such as handwriting skills we shouldn’t take it for granted and pass it to the younger generations as well.
