Violent media, particularly violent video games, has seen an increase in popularity in recent years. Like in countries such as the United States, this has corresponded with a rise in violent attacks. This essay will discuss my point of view on why it is true that violence in public spaces can be caused by violent media and possible impacts of media violation in wider communities.
To begin with, I firmly believe that media violence can lead people to do a violence in public areas. The reason behind this is because violent exposure that people get from watching television or playing video games that contain violence could increase the likelihood of people to have violent behaviour such as they would become aggressive and think more negatively compared to others who do not. As a result, they will tend to show and apply this behaviour in the public because they think that it is okay to do so.
There are several detrimental effects that could arise in our communities because of media violence. First, because aggressive behaviour increases because of the media, people will lose their empathy towards others and become more fearful to the world around them. In addition, social relationships between people will reduce because there will be much conflict and people will try to avoid contact and there will be less trust with other people.
Overall, I believe that media violence has a responsibility in making people do violence actions in public. And several negative impacts can rise by media violence such as people becoming more aggressive and social communication between people will decrease in our society.
