The topic of the law not considering age as a restriction for refuse hiring an applicant by companies is an interesting one, with a number of advantages and disadvantages that I am going to discuss in the following paragraph.
First of all, this law can have a number of benefits. The first advantage is providing job seekers with equal opportunity to find job regardless of their age. That is to say, a 20-year-old person has the same chance to be hired compared to a 30-year-old adult. In addition, another plus point would be gaining work experience. To put it in another way, there are no restrictions for youngsters to work along experienced labors, enhance their work skills, and become professional workers.
On the other hand, there are several negative points about this law. The main disadvantage is that it may reduce labor costs due to the fact that when there is a high competition for hiring in a job in a community, companies may abuse the situation and lower the salaries. Another serious drawback would be lowering the efficiency of a company. For instance, when there is no age limitation in requirements of a company to assign employees, an 80-year-old individual may not be patient enough or fast as youngsters; thereby reducing the productivity of the company.
In conclusion, although not allowing companies to refuse to assign employees for their age by officials can lead to equal opportunity or acquire work experience, it will definitely bring about reducing labor costs and minimize the efficiency of companies. Therefore, it seems to me that downsides of this law outweigh its benefits.
