Due to the ever-increasing number of people in the world, more accommodations are urgently needed for them to settle down. While some argue that the construction of housing complexes should be done in town or city areas, others think that suburban areas may offer additional space for the necessary developments to be carried on. This essay will consider both sides before presenting my own view.
To begin with, building new housing units in the middle of cities offers not only convenience but also accessibility for their potential residents. For instance, some neighbourhoods might already have security systems installed all over the areas, so newcomers who will live there will not have to worry much about their safety concerns. Moreover, there are plenty of places, such as shopping malls, supermarkets, cafes, and restaurants, that are easily accessible by car if people reside in town. However, the downside of living in cities is that there is not much empty land available to construct houses, as they are already packed with existing buildings.
In light of this condition, moving to rural areas might appear as an alternative solution to deal with the overpopulation happening in cities. Thousands of hectares of land are likely to be available, where new housing complexes could be launched. Despite this, there will not be as many facilities as citizens could find in towns, as suburban areas are sometimes less developed. Moreover, more effort should initially be made in ensuring safety and road accessibility, like installing CCTV cameras or developing the main roads, to the areas.
In conclusion, both cities and rural areas might offer great places for populations to live, depending on their situations. Although cities are more crowded, they offer more facilities to ensure safety and accessibility, all of which are traits that rural areas lack.
