There is a growing trend where in some countries, parents prefer to teach their children by themselves instead of going to schools. While this phenomenon yields certain advantages such as children remaining under control, I firmly believe that the drawbacks – notably inability to learn how to work in a team – are far more profound and ultimately outweigh the perceived benefits.
Perhaps the most significant benefit of parents educating their children is that children remain under control. When parents teach children, children cannot spend much of their time on destructive activities such as social media. Beyond its immediate impact on achieving better academic outcomes, it also leads to more beneficial developments. This is exemplified by the USA, where many homeschooled children are more likely to acquire better knowledge and they can enter top-ranked universities. Therefore, while teaching children by parents provides higher academic outcomes, its significance remains relatively minor compared to its broader adverse impacts.
I strongly believe that the lack of skills such as teamwork and cooporation can bring more detrimental consequences, chief among which is the social isolation. Since children remain separated from public, people do not help him or her when they have a problem. The implications are not confined to social development alone but extend to shyness, ultimately negatively impacting their mood. A perfect case in point would be school, where many students learn how to work in a team and they develop many skills such as teamwork and cooperation. In this regard, I do believe that the lack of skills poses more adverse ramifications in terms of the separation from public.
In conclusion, although homeschooling provides more convenient learning conditions, I strongly contend that the far-reaching consequences, driven by the lack of beneficial skills, decisively confirm that this is the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.
