There is an ongoing debate about whether goverments should support artists financially or not. While there are benefits of goverment funding for the arts such as the cultural enhancement and channeling the younger generation towards brighter future, it also comes with drawbacks like reduced funding for essential services. I believe that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
First of all, a cultural development of a country depends mostly on art. Consequently, goverments should give the proper importance to artists to allow them to compose their creations without stressing out about finance. Another upside is that the young population could find a field to express themselves through art. Thus, this protects them from illicit behaviour. In addition, thanks to art, overall wellfare of the country may elevate to the desired point.
On the other hand, allocating sources for art could result in decrease in funding of essential services such as education, healtcare or infrastructure. For example, a mistake in making right adjustments while distributing financial sources may disrupt the balance between life-sustaining requirements and art. Eventually, this could result in a failure of public services.
In coclusion, although there are negative aspects of investing money in art like compramising essential services, pros such as improving culturally and offering opportunities for youngs make it a positive development overall. Thus, spending money on artists outweigh the downsides.
