Nowadays, people appear to be busier than in past times. They have more things to occupy their lives. Work and social activities comprise most of their day. Now that many people work from home, part of the week or more they often don’t include time for exercise. However, they still find time for social activities that include visiting cafes and restaurants, and this may include drinking alcohol. These activities do not help to keep people physically healthy. Living life in the fast lane means that we eat more and don’t have as much time for exercising or attending a gymnasium. As a result, the average weight of the population of its citizens is increasing, whilst the level of fitness and health is declining.
This weight gain results from lack of physical activity. There are consequences for this lack of attention to physical exercise.
This lack of physical activity is not necessarily laziness but a change in working activities that tend to place emphasis on work completion to the exclusion of devoting time for exercise.
We therefore arrive at the conclusion that inactivity due to modern working modes is the principal reason for weight gain in the population. Physical activity that includes walking, running and certainly, gym participation together with an awareness of an adequate diet are essentials for physical health.
