In many countries, the amount of people recycling waste materials such as paper, glass and cans is insufficient. This essay will explain the reasons being due to lack of actions and responsibilities, and suggest volunteer and social media to alleviate this situation.
One of many reasons few people recycling wastes is lack of responsibilities. For example, reports show that most pedestrians often litter and throw away wastes like plastic and cans after usage. They do this without realizing the action will potentially bring harm to the environment, therefore, it is rare to see those who are actually aware of current problems. In spite of the drawbacks it brings, there is little measures from the government themselves. As their duty is to look into the existing problems, they show little action as if recycling was not as important as other significant problems like marketing and technical issues. As a result, governments are busy with their own problems and ignore the fact that inadequate recycling is disadvantageous.
To alleviate this problem, governments’ assistance is required. It is important for governments to carry out projects to motivate people to recycle. For instance, volunteers about recycle can be established in public, available for everyone to join. Through observation, bystanders will be attracted to take part in the project, which increases the number of people knowing how to recycle. Therefore, people will eventually teach others, leading to improved recycling of waste materials. Furthermore, with the help of technology, people could post blogs to raise people’s awareness on social meida. Because low efforts in recycling could potentially cause environmental issues and pollution, people could show the drawbacks on online programmes such as Facebook and Instagram for other users to investigate. Consequently, people will realize that their responsibilities towards environment must be tightened in order to prevent the problem from happening, which, therefore, encourages people to recycle more frequently.
In conclusion, there is not enough recycling of waste materials because this problem is often overlooked by society and governments. To improve this, governments’ actions are necessary and awareness of people can be raised with the help of social media.
