Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 5+: In some cultures, children are often told that they can achieve anything if they try hard enough. What are the advantages and disadvantages of giving children this message.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some parents upbring their children in some cultures with an opinion that if they try hard in every situation, they can achieve whatever they want. This essay reviews their benefits and drawbacks.

The opinion that people should try hard to achieve their goals has two main benefits. First of all, it makes children try harder instead of disappointment, which gives them more chance to success. For instance, children with more exercise have more opportunity of being first than less one. Secondly, this belief can gain children’s confidence. They think they can obtain anything by trying hard, so they try to find the best way. Therefore, this opinion can sometimes help them to success.

On the other hand, believing this opinion has also some disadvantages. They feel disappointment if they fail. They think they didn’t try hard enough for their aims and experience dissatisfied about themselves. Moreover, some other factors are necessary in the way of success. With this opinion, they ignore these factors, such as money, family support, luck, and environment. For instance, there is a less chance for individuals with no money or family support to immigrate even when they try hard. Thus, trying hard are not always the key point for success and can have destructive effect on people’s lives.

In conclusion, although having opinion about the relationship between “trying hard” and “achieving goals” can help children, it has some drawbacks. While it gives them an opportunity to be successful, there are some other factors, such as money and family support existed. They should be aware about it to avoid them from being disappointment.
