Children are the backbone of a successful nation. Nowadays, the importance of children’s achievements is a frequent topic of discussion. In some communities, people believe that children are capable of achieving anything if they are determined. This phenomenon has both merits and demerits. Personally, I firmly believe that its advantages far outweigh the drawbacks.
Children lead very interesting and enjoyable lives during their childhood. To begin with, their memorisation capacity is higher than that of adults. They can easily acquire various skills, such as painting, volunteering, and debating. The information they learn through these activities is long-lasting. Moreover, children can quickly adapt to different environments, which makes them more confident and helps them gain skills within a short period of time. This enriches their knowledge and makes them more valuable individuals. Furthermore, children tend to engage in recreational activities, which helps them study or work more effectively, as their brain response is significantly better. In addition, children’s attitudes and behaviour can easily be shaped, as they are like clay and usually have no harmful distractions. Therefore, childhood is the best time to achieve goals, and children can succeed easily if they are guided properly.
However, this trend also has some disadvantages. Firstly, if children are put under excessive pressure, they may become sick and suffer from health problems such as headaches, eye strain, and muscle pain. In severe cases, this pressure may lead to serious illnesses, which is highly undesirable. Secondly, they may lose their ability to memorise and concentrate properly. Often, they struggle to complete even simple tasks. For example, in my area, a girl named Riya was a top student and highly skilled. Unfortunately, when she tried to achieve everything she was interested in, she became ill and now struggles to complete her homework.
In conclusion, although this phenomenon has some drawbacks, they are minor compared to its advantages. If parents are more conscious of these issues, they can help children overcome them. Children also need adequate relaxation and should avoid excessive pressure. If these conditions are met, this approach will bring far more benefits than harm
