The majority of the world’s population lives in large cities. In terms of personal fitness and wellbeing, big cities have better medical facilities and more areas for doing physical activities are suggested than rural areas. However, urban areas have air pollution which is very dangerous for residents and creates long-term health problems. In addition, the cost of living is high.
On the one hand, the population in big cities can benefit from high-quality medical services. A wide range of medical facilities are reachable during emergencies in the cities. For example, if the person has some serious health issues and needs urgent treatment, there are a lot of clinics with professional medical staff. Moreover, the large cities, such as Sumgayit, have hectares of parks and cycling areas where people spend their time positive and stay physically active. Annually this city allocates funds for repairing and improving facilities in parks.
On the other hand, one of the main problems that people face today is air pollution in metropolitan areas. Due to over-using vehicles and public transport, the percentage of polluted air is rising every year. Some countries already took action against it, however it is not possible to do notable changes in short-terms. Furthermore, standard of living costs in most metropolitan areas are significantly higher than in rural regions. For instance in New York, individual needs at least three thousand dollars, which is higher than minimal salary, for rent; bills; and other personal expenses.
In conclusion, unlike rural regions, big cities offer better medical clinics and outdoor facilities such as, green parks and large cycling areas. Nevertheless, the level of pollution in air and high living expenses should not be neglected for better health.
