In this modern internet era, face-to-face communication is rapidly becoming less common. Some argue that heavily relying on online communication and using messaging and calling tools affects the human ability for face-to-face interaction. This essay totally disagrees with this perspective, as digital communication helps in key situations of educational interactions and encourages aspects that far hinder the drop of social skills in businesses across the globe.
Firstly, online communication has enormous benefits, such as saving time, travel, and money. Moreover, the most crucial benefit is that digital interaction is more convenient than face-to-face interaction. As a student, I believe that learners cannot travel far from city to city or across borders to learn or join any conference. In some situations, they miss fruitful opportunities. Online communication is also very convenient for teachers. For example, I participated in an online university workshop that included three speakers; two were from England, and the other was an author. I learned that digital interaction is very beneficial. We students could not have traveled to England for that workshop because of the cost. Thanks to the modern internet, we could join and learn enough from those speakers.
Secondly, as we know, without trade or international relations, a country or individual cannot survive. So, through online communication, we are able to trade and interact. There are also many advantages, such as saving time. We know that time is money, and it saves on travel. We receive our remittances and goods through online orders. Due to digital interaction, there is no negative impact on the ability for face-to-face interaction. Most online conferences are conducted effectively. Communicating through written words allows one to check ability and ethics.
In conclusion, while face-to-face communication has its place, without it, nothing could possibly happen. But, as humans, if we look at the advantages of digital communication, which make everything easier, therefore it is crucial to strike a balance between online and in-person communication.
