It is widely believed that in the future, the percentage of older people will be higher than younger ones in most countries. There are numerous reasons of this problem, and in my opinion it is a negative development.
Initially, the beauty standarts are changing significantly over time. Nowadays, in many countries, women do not want to be pregnant due to it’s drawbacks and effects on beauty. It is mostly common in Asian countries like Japan, South Korea, where the birth rate has significantly fallen last decade. In addition, plenty countries suffer from overpopulation, thus the government of such countries are incorporating children limit (1-2) into the law. In China, for instance, the residents of Pekin can have only 1 child per family. I think that these kind of changes in society can be considered as a negative development.
Firstly, the leading number of older people will result in lack of work resources (people, who are capable of working). In addition, the technological advancements in today’s fast-pacing world are being incorporated into workplaces. Even taxi drivers must know how to use applications in order to work. Due to the lack of knowledge of older people in modern technology, they may face problems. Moreover, some countries may suffer from consequences of gerontocracy. Development of gerontocracy will not lead to innovations or positive development, as older people tend to live with old principles.
To sum up, in future the large proportion of older people in society will lead to negative development, and this problem will possibly arise in near future in most countries.
