It is true that the rate of older people will be increased than adolescents in many nations. This essay will explain why this is a negative development for a society.
Firstly, as older people increase, which is a pressure on the healthcare system. In other words, older individuals require more medical attention and long-term care. For instance, Italy is a rapidly aging population country, hospitals have to care for an enormous amount of older people, so the hospital has been exposed to system healthcare tension and infrastructure is also struggling to respond for them. Therefore, this increased demand can overwhelm healthcare service, leading to waiting a long time, higher costs and even decreasing the quality of care for everyone. Moreover, the government also has financial tension to improve services and facilities in the health sectors.
Secondly, a higher proportion will make these countries suffer a burden on the economic aspect. In fact, older people attribute no part of the productive workforce since they no longer work and contribute to economic growth. For example, in some countries like Japan, the aging population has resulted in a shrinking labor force, which hinders economic growth and increases the proportion of dependents. Thus, there is a shortage of quality workers which causes decline productivity and higher labor costs.
In conclusion, this tendency is an element of negative development for a society. It poses significant challenges in the economy and system healthcare that is pressure on younger people. It is recommended that the government should encourage each family practical in pregnancy two or more times to balance younger people and older people.
