There is a view that there is no longer a demand for using animals for different purposes such as food and products, and animal materials which are prominently crucial in the fields like clothing and medicine. While critics may argue this poses substantial threat to the humanity as a whole, I completely agree with the given statement, as other contributing factors can replace animals’ essential purposes.
The critics may contend that this shift in the use of animal can bring about many drawbacks to the society. The prevalence in animal usage for food, particularly meat has become integral part of people’s eating habits. If other methods were to implemented to replace a real meat, people may experience unhealthy and unbalanced diets, potentially leading to the onset of preventable eating disorders and individuals’ body can witness malnutrition in the long run. Additionally, with the regard to various products exploited in different industries, animal material may play a crucial role in producing durable and soft clothes, as well as, discovering novel drugs, which can potentially treat uncurable symptoms.
However, I am strongly convinced that in today’s world it is not necessary to exploit animals in this cruel perspective. I believe that the owners of domesticated or wild animals should not treat them unfairly, let alone killing them. The rapid advancements in technology make it possible for medicine to clone hundreds of original drugs to stockpile for the future centuries, meaning people should not necessarily murder animals for providing medical treatments. In addition, the resemblance of meat- plant-based meat- becomes one of the significant solutions to this phenomenon, and even many vegan campaign leaders promote consuming plant-based products to address the issue of lessening the number of animals murdered.
In conclusion, while avoid using animals as a source of food and material comes with certain drawbacks, I strongly believe for those advocating for exploiting other approaches such as technology and plant-based products to save the life of animals, which are far beyond important for humanity as a whole.
