Band 5+: In today's society, much attention is given to developing communication skills, but some people believe that listening is an even more important skill than speaking. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In current social environment, huge focus is given on developing communication skills, however some individuals take stand that listening is the skill which is more beneficial than speaking alone. both views are having their reasons for these opinions, but I agree with first statement that Speaking or communication skills should be given importance than just listening.

Speaking builds communication skills that elevate individuals personality. Communication skills can help to be vocal in public surroundings. Speaking in public is often seen as confidence act of an individual. This confidence makes them better as an individual in their respective field. for example, Raj Thackrey, who is a prominent politician in Maharashtra, He has excellent communication skills which helps him gather people for his speeches, which indirectly accelerate vote share of his party in an election.

Not just this, but speaking gives an opportunity to the person to let others understand his thoughts and stance on the particular topic. Sharing your thoughts by effectively communicating them to others are one of the best ways to prove your existence. Taking the example of court hearing, If one person is an innocent but still he was manipulated and trapped into the crime that he has never committed. Then, He should be vocal about his real story, else he will be under the bars.

In conclusion, Developing the speaking habit for an individual is more important than just listening. From above examples, it is very much clear that people should focus on overall development of communication skills than bringing their whole focus on listening alone.
