Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 5+: In today's world, private companies rather than the government pay for and conduct most scientific research. Do you think the advantages outweigh disadvantages?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, comercial sectors are dipper involved to fund scientific projects than state institutions. While this trend confers several downsides, its upsides are much more significant.

One principal disadvantage of interest decrese from government side is that companies may prioritise profit over public benefit. Generally, private corporations target on revenue from their researchs. As a result, a lot of filds, which are in demant among the society such as education system or medicine can stay without investment for a long time. Lack of transparency can be a further concern. Commercial companies can not guarantee openness and credibility in their researches. As they operate their own research centers, which are independent from government agencies. Consequently, state can not control their researchs and some aspects of these findings can be distorted or hided from society.

Despite these demerits, the merits of particepation of privat sector on scientific research are much greater. One major advantage is that private companies can accelerate innovation and bring products to market more efficiently. State funding process is complex and long series of steps, that can cover from 1 month to several years. While in case with commertial institutions it can be simlyfied and faster integrated in market. Besides, this trend can help government to focus on essential sectors of human life and make them free from ordinary problems. In state system there are a lot of issues, which require attention and material resourses from government, such as law, external and internal policies or economy. Therefore, private companies should assist to state with basic sphere where researchs are nessesary.

In conclusion, although this trend can lead to problems with transparency or be too profit-driven, its advantages, from acceleration of researchs to give a freedom to government institutions, bear gretaer weight.
