In various countries, individuals now have longer life expectancies than ever before. Some people claim that an aging population creates issues for governments. Other individuals believe there are advantages if society has more older people. Personally, I partly agree with these opinions and I will shed light on the rationales in the following essay.
On the one hand, in this day and age, some families claim that elderly people, like their parents, are the motivation for them to strive for obstacles in life. For instance, whenever offspring meet a challenge in their life, they will come back to their hometown and have deep talks with their parents because they want to receive some solutions to overcome it. That is why they will take time at all costs to return home to reunite and meet their relatives on occasions. Furthermore, the younger generation certainly learns some valuable lessons from the older generation about what they overcame in the past, and they will pass on their useful advice to the younger generation. Gen Z will have the abilities of how to tackle some problems simply and always become good moral citizens.
On the other hand, the government must bear the cost of subsidizing elderly people when they need to retire. But that is not a problem because old people devoted themselves to their careers and at that time they need to take a rest. Furthermore, when they become old, some diseases will be more common and going to the hospital is inevitable, which is why it is now more crowded. However, the government can use the budget to build some amenities for them.
In conclusion, an aging population does not totally create problems for the government. In contrast, their ability to devote themselves to society is a huge lesson for the younger generation to learn and adopt in their lives. Regardless of the drawbacks of an aging population, the benefits outweigh them.
