Nowadays, tourists have to be responsible and pay attention to the culture and the environment at the destinations they want to go, while others think that it is impossible to do so. I strongly agree with the former opinion because the purposes of tourism itself are to learn new cultures and preserving the environment.
When travelling abroad, visitors normally want to learn new cultures at the places they go. So they already bring the awareness of being responsible tourists before visiting foreign countries. The cultures include, language, domestic food, and local tradition. For example, British people tend to respect people who can speak English language and joke. As a result, they will earn mutual respect, not only from the locals but also to the tourists itself.
Moreover, travellers also have to preserve the environment. The environments, such as historical buildings, are the part of intergenerational intangible assets that have a lot of stories behind it. If it is not conservated seriously, it will be hard to recover the damage because it takes more years, massive amount of money as well as many stakeholders to be involved. Imagine if tourists do vandalism, it takes more years to fix that again. For example, Candi Borobudur, Indonesia, take years to restore the head of Buddha. If people do not be responsible, it will take more years to fix the problem.
In conclusion, to learn new cultures and preserve the environment are the part of tourisms itself and because of that visitors need to be responsible and pay attention.
