There is a debate whether innovation should lead towards financially rewarding goals or socio-environmental issues. In my opinion innovation should prioritize socio-economic goals as it provides a world that has better quality of life which is worth more than deteriorating the world that we live in just for the shake of more return on investment.

Some people firmly believe that innovation should prioritize profit and economic growth , the primary concern behind this belief is the fact that innovation requires a huge budget allocated to research and development and for the motivation just to even start this comes from the return on investment , if there is no return on investment to the funding that will be done for this innovation to complete companies just won’t start it which will halt the advancement of technology that would generally offer a efficiency in daily operation of individuals and organizations. We can notice this phenomenon by just looking at the news these days , companies like open ai clearly have been investing billions of dollars for advancement of ai technology in hopes for better return on investment in future by becoming the best used ai company in future.

On the other hand, numerous people strongly argue that innovation that leads to better socio-economic growth should always be prioritized. This idea generally comes from people firmly believing that quality of life of both individuals and community is far more superior than financial improvement , what they generally argue upon is if innovations leads towards catastrophic disasters to humans and planet then those innovation in general are just not worth heading towards. An example of this is , we developed vehicles for more efficiency to travel , but it did come with us burning the fossil fuels which has lead to frequent climate change that has lead to thousands of people losing their life and degradation to bio-diversity in general.

In my opinion we should prioritize innovation that leads towards solving socio-environmental issues because us being able to live with a good quality of life will always outweigh any financial goals an individual or organization has.

In conclusion, there is a ongoing debate on what the priority of innovation should be for some it is financial rewards and for some it is socio-economic growth. I firmly believe that innovation leading to socio-economic growth should always be prioritize.
