Everyone has heard the saying “Never judge a book by its cover.” There is no doubt that it is right. Most of us look at one’s appearance and draw a conclusion about that person at first look. Although many people are against this idea, I firmly believe that we can make predictions about people’s economic situation and their personality by looking at their appearance.
First, people think what a person wears demonstrates his/her economic status. If a person wears over-priced and designer clothes, people usually think s/he has a high income. However, ordinary clothes do not make a similar impression on people. What is more, it is possible to have an idea about one’s richness by looking at his/her personal care preferences. There is a direct relationship between someone’s income and the amount of money they can spend on personal care products. This means that if you see a well-groomed person, it may signal that his/her economic situation is above average.
Second, selection of clothes gives us a clue about somebody’s personality. For example, if a person prefers classic clothes, it indicates that s/he resists change and hates criticism. However, a person who is casually dressed is much more comfortable in his/her decisions and it is thought that s/he has a free spirit. Besides, the colour of the clothes mirrors a person’s personality. For instance, people who wear yellow clothes are generally those who suffer from anxiety and alertness, but people who choose to wear more colourful garments have more self-confidence and are more stubborn with their ideas.
In conclusion, even though appearance is not the only clue that helps us have an idea about a person, I think it is one of the most notable signs of someone’s economic status and personality. Naturally, it is just an observation but we should keep in mind that observations are also important in understanding facts.
