Organizing international sporting extravaganzas like the Olympic Games or the FIFA World Cup undoubtedly demands substantial financial investments. While some argue that such expenditures are wasteful, others contend that they bring considerable benefits to the host country. This essay will thoroughly discuss both viewpoints before concluding that I am in favor of the latter.
To begin with, organizing an international sporting game may present significant challenges. Firstly, the process of preparing for these events is often demanding and time-consuming. Secondly, building them squandered serious finance. For example, in World Cup 2014, it took Brazil 5 years to construct and advance various facilities such as stadiums to meet the world-class standard set by FIFA. Moreover, these stadiums just are used for some football matches throughout the entire season and then abandoned. Consequently, not only the country is under more financial stress, but also wasting its national resources.
On the other hand, I am of the opinion that hosting international sports events may create potential profits and gain global exposure. The key rationale behind this thinking is that these events can considerably boost a nation’s tourism industry, and stimulate local economies. For instance, the football World Cup is able to attract a large array of famous athletes such as Messi, and Ronaldo and their supporters from all around the world. This means that there is a sudden increase in visitors and proliferate the sales of services such as accommodations and transportation within the period of the events. To sum up, This underscores the belief that hosting such events can be an economic growth opportunity.
In conclusion, although sports events can bring some problems like being time-consuming or high-cost requirements. In my perspective, the benefits of attracting a large number of individuals from other countries and boosting gross sales are stronger.
