There is an opinion that traveling has become easier and more affordable for numerous people. I view this development positively for two key reasons.
One advantage of affordable travel for a growing number of people is broadening one’s horizons. Nowadays, the young generation has a lot of new opportunities that allow them to see new countries and learn about their culture. For example, all residents of any country in the European Union can travel without visa control, and none of the Schengen countries have strictly guarded borders between each other, which fosters cross-cultural understanding. Without these opportunities, a country becomes virtually isolated, and fewer and fewer people can learn about the country itself, because people don’t just travel – they talk about their own country’s culture, making it more and more popular.
Another positive consequence is the facilitation of international travel. Cheaper flights make international travel easier for people from different income groups. In addition, traveling between countries may be a good foundation for cooperation, and it also positively affects diplomatic relations between them. For instance, the government of the People’s Republic of China has good historical relations with North Korea therefore, people with Chinese citizenship can cross the border into North Korea, while the DPRK does not allow citizens of many other countries to do the same due to political differences.
In conclusion, making travel easier and more affordable for a growing number of people can lead to the broadening of one’s horizons and the facilitation of international travel. For these reasons, I consider this development to be a positive one.
