Being jobless is preferable to working as an employee in a company with a job you do not love. In my opinion, I strongly agree with this statement because people who do not like their job could suffer mental illness. Moreover, they have bigger opportunities to develop skills and make use of available time as long as they are jobless.
On the one hand, mental illness can happen slowly, so many people do not realize that they have it. Stress at work contributes quite significantly to mental illness, such as a large workload. It means there is no work-life balance in the company. For instance, I had ever worked in a company that focused on manufacturing precast concrete, such as box girders, power poles, and precast foundations. The company worked 24 hours a day, but only had 2 shifts. It means all of the employees must work for 12-hour period in one day. Additionally, the company only gives 2 days off every month. It caused a high turnover of employees during each semester.
In addition, being jobless can improve people’s soft and hard skills while utilising available time as long as jobless. This is supported by the unlimited time while people have 24 hours of free time because they do not work. Therefore, it is just a matter of how the people managed their time well for one full day. For example, my friend Annie, while being a jobless, she was spending time with joining the capital market trading class 3 times a week for 6 months. She was very sure that joining the class can improve their soft skills to manage her money well. Besides, she believes that she can make a lot of money after finishing the course and start to join the capital market trading.
To sum up, I do believe that people who do not like their job can improve their skills including soft skills and hard skills rather than working in a place they do not like. Therefore, people do not need to think further about mental health due to work-life balance at work.
