Band 5+: It is pointless making children who lack artistic talent learn painting and drawing in Art classes at school. Instead, they should concentrate on other creative or practical subjects for which they may have more aptitude. To what extend do you agree or disagree.

Some people still believe that forcing children who have no enough skills to take parts in artistic activities like painting or drawing is a waste of time. Instead ,they’re convinced that schools should focus on teaching these students practical subjects rather than teaching them creative skills. Although, this is true that not everyone is talented enough to become a successful artist , I disagree with the idea that art classes are pointless. Art education is still a significant part of studying and removing it from children’s lives could limit their development.

First of all ,learning art at school could improve children’s creativity and self-expression. Even if a child is not naturally gifted ,art classes teach them to think creatively and express themselves visually. Not everyone is brilliant at practical subjects like maths or physics,but they still learn a lot from it. That’s the same with arts. Art classes help you to develop your imagination and problem solving skills ,both could be useful in in many careers ,including design ,advertising or even engineering.

The next reason why I believe that learning art at school is important is because art has a huge impact on children’s self- confidence and helps them to improve their emotional skills. It is not necessary to become an outstanding student and have the ability to draw a genies picture . In this case,results from learning art is not as important as the process itself. The process of creating art could boost the confidence and emotional well-being as it forces you to think a lot and create something by yourself. Also ,a great deal of art activities,like painting or even sculpturing ,could be therapeutic for children as it helps sometimes to take a break from everyday routine and focus on the task.

While some children might never become great painters ,having art lessons is not a waste of time. It fosters creativity, self- awareness and increase self-confidence. Rather than removing these types of classes ,schools should make the lessons more affordable and let children create more.
