Some argue that consuming meat should be illegal because keeping livestock such as cows gives a huge negative impact to nature. I totally disagree with this idea because eating meat is healthy and farming livestock is not the culprit of environmental deterioration but rather the pollution created by transporting the meat.
To begin with, since livestocks meat are rich in protein, they are going to boost people’s health if eaten frequently. This is because unlike other sources of macronutrients, protein consists of amino acids that have a function to build muscle in every human organ, strong muscles will lead to a stronger immune system that will eventually make people healthier. For instance, people who are diagnosed with late stage cancer will likely to survive longer if they consume plenty of meat and have a bigger muscle mass.
Furthermore, pollution produced by transporting meat from one place to another by airplanes gives tremendous negative effects to the environment and not by keeping livestock. That is because, livestocks and other animals have been living on the earth ages ago and they did not cause any negative effect to nature, however, transporting meat from one region to another region by traditional transportation should be blamed because they create CO2 which is detrimental to the environment. For instance, Japan farms huge amounts of cow’s meat and there are no reports on the bad impact of the environment in Japan, however there is a report on an increase in carbon gas emission produced by moving this meat to other places.
In conclusion, Livestocks such as cows are blamed for causing considerable impact to nature, thus many individuals believe that eating meat should be legally banned. However I believe that this approach is wrong because ingesting meat gives massive advantages to human health and keeping livestock does not cause significant impact to the environment but rather the air pollution created by transporting them.
