Some people suggest there are no benefits for individuals who live in the present to study history. However, I totally disagree because human nature has not changed, as people are still influenced by greed, anger, and delusion. Then, the history tends to repeat itself. Therefore, learning about the past helps people to prepare and prevent unexpected outcomes. Additionally, education about history may promote pupils to value their nation.
Firstly, the historical records contain both positive and negative events such as elections, natural diasters and pandemics. People in the past had encountered and learnt how to deal these situations. They could pass on knowledge to new generation to cope with problems immediately when events happen. To illustrate, residents who lived near rivers experienced recurrent flood. Consequently, they built houses were higher than water level, and they known to notice natural warning signs when rain is coming. This knowledge helps the next generation to safe from diasters. Another example is about wars. They usually occurs due to conflict in resources such as fuel, area, and gold. As a result, people should learn from the history and older generation because the stories usually replay as the same.
Secondly, teenagers who study the history tend to be patriots because they know how a country develop difficulty. They realize in the value of identity, culture and tradition. For example, when country happens problems. Young people may develop a stronger sense of responsibility to their country. Therefore, learning about history not only supports the patriotism, but it also promotes the national unity.
In conclusion, I strongly disagree that there are no advantage to learn about history because the recurrent situation may occur. The younger generation should study for preparing the future problems and avoiding repeating mistakes. Moreover, studying about history encourages new generation to appreciate their identity and value their nation.
