The rate of juvenile delinquency is becoming prevalent in many countries around the world. While there are several reasons for the phenomenon, some solutions can be implemented to mitigate this situation.
One of the major factors contributing to this problem is the lack of parental guidance. In modern life, parents become busy with their jobs and do not invest enough time with their children. For example, in metropolises such as Ha Noi or Sai Gon, many parents have to face problems like work-related stress, financial strain so it would be challenging for them to balance work and family responsibilities. As a result, children with less attention and guidance from parents tend to have illegal behavior. To tackle this problem, parents should learn how to manage their time effectively, they can carry out a schedule or cut down on the amount of working hours to allocate time to children.
Another reason is the youth’s exposure to violence in the media, which affects young people’s attitudes and behavior. With the development of digital technology, violent contents like bully, rape are widely spreading on social platforms like Facebook, Youtube, Instagram. If the youth view media violence regularly, they are more likely to imitate these behaviors and may lead to criminals. A sustainable solution to this issue is to limit the viewing time of violent films and contents. Parents should regularly monitor the amount of time that their children use social media and check whether the youth watch suitable content or not.
To conclude, poor parenting guidance and constant exposure to violent content are two main features leading to the increase of youth crime. I believe that if the solutions mentioned above were implemented effectively, the problem would be alleviated.
