Staying in a country where having a foreign language skill is paramount could be devastating, whether it’s in socializing or facing real-world challenges.
The most important thing to do to live in a foreign country is to learn the language. Knowing how to speak the language can give you a lot of benefits, such as keeping a conversation, learning new things, and even meeting new people. While it might be challenging to learn a new language, it can be enjoyable with a partner such as friends or family. For example, I have a friend named Mark and he is American. He wanted to visit Indonesia, though he had a fear of isolation and awkwardness. I helped him to conquer his fear by teaching him the Indonesian language. As a result, he managed to keep a conversation, even a deep one.
Not knowing the language in a foreign country could lead to a disaster. There’s a chance you will meet someone that speaks the same language as you, however, there are only a few people. It is totally unrecommendable to visit a foreign country without the language knowledge, as it could lead to social anxiety, stress, and isolation. Finding a job is also the hardest thing you’ll stumble upon, as many companies don’t hire people who can’t speak their language. A study shows that abroad students in China have social problems because of language barriers. Noticing that problem, the Chinese government decided to offer a free Chinese class for foreign students.
In conclusion, living in a country without the language knowledge can lead to social and practical problems. Learning the language before living in a foreign country is mandatory and a strategic action.
