Nowadays, it is becoming a common scenario for people to dress according to some viral trends, but how has global fashion become so influential? Has it some merits or negative impacts? In this essay I will explore why global fashion has become so popular in everyday life and whether it is a good change or not.
The popularity of global fashion is significantly influenced by globalization. Today, it is easy for people to disseminate information across the world in a short span of time. As a consequence, fashion trends are traveling from one place to another very quickly, resulting in popularity. To cite an example, the trend of American boots is much likely to spread around European countries easily with the help of social media influencers who are promoting products online. Since social media has become an integral part of any human beings, we get all sources of information, ranging from who is using what to what is being in the fashion.
However, it isn’t necessarily the positive change, because the global trend diminish the individual’s uniqueness. In other words, it is said that clothes are very expressive. By this I mean, the way people are dressed tells us who this person is in an almost accurate ways. Unfortunately, if every person is dressing the same just for the sake of some viral trends, then we all share same aspects, let alone standing out as a special human being. Therefore, it is my firm belief that global fashion has a negative impact on individuality.
In conclusion, with the advent of extensive social media usage and the rise in influencers, global fashion is gaining its momentum, but it has its downsides in which it diminishes the individual’s uniqueness.
