In modern society, children have many more opportunities to lead a healthy life than in the past as they have access to advanced medicine, up-to-date technologies and plenty of food. However, certain advantages are worth discussing. There exists a noticeable deterioration in children’s behavior patterns such as excessive screen time, lack of physical activity and unbalanced diet.
I believe that both parents and educational institutes should take responsibility in addressing unhealthy lifestyle of children. As today’s youth are spared from heavy physical labor, a significant trend towards a sedentary lifestyle has emerged. Many children engage in minimal physical activity, leading to slowed physical development and various health risks. Moreover, modern youth are increasingly prone to social isolation, which negatively affects their communicative abilities and interpersonal skills. That is why families should provide kids with spare time activities such as walking together or doing sports. It is also important to prioritize open communication, family tradition and quality time. As for the schools, they should include regular exercise in their timetables and organize various sports clubs for a good balance between sedentariness and developing physical strength. In addition, it is necessary to suggest extra classes for improving negotiation skills.
As far as diet is concerned, the prevalence of unhealthy eating habits, particularly the consumption of fast food and processed foods laden with genetically modified ingredients, has created a substantial foundation for serious health issues such as obesity, diabetes, and even cancer at a young age. To improve this issue both parents and schools should provide children with a range of food which includes plenty of vegetables and fruit. If children are brought up on a healthy diet, they learn healthy eating habits.
On the other hand, I think that responsibility for creating healthy lifestyle also lies with the government, which should find a way to speak to a young generation. It is significant to teach people how to create healthy habits and how to implement them in everyday life. So, there is great opportunity to address people and especially children through social media and influencers who can provide them with range of proper information on the theme.
In conclusion, I believe that government can take actions and help by giving information to people. However, the responsibility for bringing up children with healthy habits lies on the people who interact with them on a daily basis. In other words it should be children’s parents and teachers.
