There is no denying the fact that the phenomenon of importing food materials is ubiquitous across the globe due to it’s great importance. One school of thought opine that it is worthless. Others consider that a couple of problems are also occur because of the same. This has a plethora of merits yet numerous demerits are aslo there which will be elaborated in upcoming paragraph.
Initiating with the best possible benefits, The most significant advantage is , when one country imports some food materials from other country, then the mass population of such particular country can get to enjoy international taste of food. They also can experience the different flavours of the foods which they do not get in their own state.
To cite an example, In Bangladesh a fruit called Avocado is not so available. It is also very difficult to grow in Bangladesh. So most of the people don’t know the actual taste of that fruit, but now this fruit has been imported from other countries to Bangladesh. As a result, currently people can eat this fruit, since this fruit is being imported.
On the paradoxical side, there are also some drawbacks as well, firstly, the efforts and tries to grow and cultivate such foreign fruits are not being encouraged by the country’s respective authority, and by this the country can’t bring innovation in their agricultural sector. Secondly, a huge amount of foreign currencies are being spent for this import purposes. For instance, Bangladesh need to spend a large numder of US dollars to import such fruits called Avocado. Consequently, This spending of US dollars is affecting the economy of the country. Especially, this is hurting the financial system of the third world countries like Bangladesh.
In conclusion, I personally believe that, merits of importing food items outnumber the demerits of depriving people from having exotic foods. However, efforts should be made to minimize latter one.
