In this contemporary world, young and middle-aged individuals in each family have to work outside in order to cover their day-to-day increasing expenses. As a result, many are faced with the challenge of balancing work responsibilities and caring for elderly family members, which often leads to the decision to place them in nursing homes. Some support this this as a necessary step, but others say the opposite. In this essay, I will elaborate on the pros and cons of sending elderly people to those kinds of care facilities.
One main advantage is that eldercare centers provide the round-the-clock service, so elders can get comprehensive healthcare. These days most family members to work need to work because of the demanding economy. Then the elderly relatives are often left unattended at homes, and no one can care about their daily needs, particularly in terms of health. By relocating them to the nursing homes, they can receive the proper healthcare and attention to avoid the loneliness.
On the other hand, the more people get older, the more they need attention and care. Leaving your grandparent at a care home without a regular visit can have detrimental effects on their well-being. For example, even though the caregivers can assist them not to feel alone and take care of their health, their presence cannot replace the love and support of family members. Although they can have perfect healthcare quality, they might feel isolation, and that can negatively impact their health.
All things considered, the decision to place great-grandparents in healthcare centers has its own positives and negatives. The world may change due to today’s living styles, but it is crucial to prioritize expressing love and providing attention to our elders. If not, we will regret it when they are gone.
