Typically, every renowned person can be found on social media. Nowadays, it is unproblematic to observe their lives through Internet access. However, parents are concerned about their children following their idols in the media. In this essay, I will disassemble how youth can advantage of the credibility that famous people have and the negative influence that stardom exposes on the young generation.
To begin with, children often have a propensity to be influenced by those whom they count for authority. As such, inappropriate content published by some bloggers can be a menace to their lives. For example, approximately 10 years ago, a widespread game in Russia called Blue Whale led to thousands of casualties among teenagers, who were harassed and threatened if they did not comply with the rules of the abovementioned game. On the other hand, some celebrities might serve as positive role models for kids, promoting self-development, healthy lifestyles, and goal achievement.
As for the advantage that renowned people provide to youth, they can motivate and inspire adolescents. For instance, there are numerous celebrities who reveal secrets of their health and incline their subscribers to improve themselves through beneficial videos with instructions on their training and diet specifically for those who seek ways to enhance their well-being. Nevertheless, some people might feel oppressed and disappointed while constantly comparing themselves to their favourite celebrities, especially when they cannot acquire the wealth and fame that their motivators possess. This, in turn, ought to result in mental health problems such as insecurity or depression.
To synthesise, with fame comes power and influence as well as a great responsibility, although not every celebrity is taking uses these opportunities for good. In my view, parents and internet moderators should monitor the content consumed by teenagers to prevent them from negative experiences which could be hazardous.
