Many people develop bonds with their pets and often treat them as members of their family. While some people believe that such relationships can lead to unnecessary expenses and risks, I take the view that it is generally a positive trend because pets provide emotional support and help owners develop responsibility.
On the one hand, treating pets as family members may have certain drawbacks. One of the most important concerns is the financial burden associated with pet ownership. Those who regard pets as part of their family must often spend considerable amounts of money on food, medical treatment, and even clothing for their animals to make them clean, healthy, and pathogen-free. Therefore, the owners can stay close to their pets, petting them without being worried about underlying diseases. For some people, these expenses may exceed their financial capacity and create unnecessary pressure. Another disadvantage is that pets can bring health risks. Certain animals may carry parasite-mediated diseases and infections that can be transmitted to humans, with pet fur causing allergies in some individuals. These issues explain why some people oppose close relationships with pets.
However, I believe that the benefits of these intimate relationships are far more significant. Firstly, pets offer emotional support and companionship. They are known for their loyalty, unconditional affection, and constant presence, which can help people deal with stress, pressure, loneliness, and anxiety. This is particularly beneficial for elderly individuals and those who live alone in the hustle lifestyle. Secondly, caring for pets improves individual responsibility. Looking after an animal requires owners to follow a daily routine, so they become more disciplined. Furthermore, having pets also helps people develop empathy and compassion which can positively influence their personal character.
In conclusion, although regarding pets as family members may involve financial costs and certain health concerns, I believe that the close relationships between pet animals and humans are largely beneficial. This is because the emotional companionship and valuable skills that taking care of pets brings in outweigh the potential disadvantages.
