The main advantage of this trend is that people who move to metropolitan cities can find jobs more easily, as there are significantly more job opportunities. On the other hand, multinational corporations, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities are typically concentrated in urban areas, providing individuals with opportunities for career advancement and skill development. Due to the statistics, 63% of the population migrating to cities advance rapidly towards higher positions in their careers. As a matter of fact, this percentage will increase even more.
On the other hand, urbanization has a detrimental impact on the environment. The expansion of population often leads to deforestation, serious lung diseases like asthma, chronic obstructive lung diseases, and increasing pollution levels. According to scientists, in Bangladesh air pollution has increased by 20% over the past 5 years, as a result of the establishment of factories in major cities. The government is unable to regulate the balance between job creation and environmental protection.
