A new trend is seen today where people preffer to publicize their daily routine via documenting everything and putting it online. The major reason of this evolution is the increasing interest of people in the social media, mainly vlogging. From my perspective, this change is not in the favour of anyone in the long term.
This is the era of social media where everyone wants to see everything about somone’s life, espacially influencers. People post the updates about their lives, to gain views and with some platforms they could also earn money (e.g youtube, tiktok). Individuals want to keep themselves within the race of acknowledgement which is given by other people. Moreover, considering the unemployement, vlogging has become a part time job, of even, highly qualified people. Just to follow trends of the present time, some people are sacrificing their privacy without understanding the future consequences.
The addiction of getting views, likes and the comments is so dangerous that there is no limit to it. It is evident by listening to the interviews of people who got fame by putting their lives on social media, no one seems to be satisfied. They all want some privacy, as if major proportion of their lives is for public then atleast some should belong to them. Putting lives on internet also result in lot of trolling, bad comments and spreading of rumors that are baseless. All this leads to stress, anxiety and even to depression in some cases. Along with this, this effects families privacy as once anyone is in the eyes of public people treat them as their property and some bad individuals of society could try to harm their reputations by any possible means.
In conclusion, internet should be use wisely while keeping all the pros and cons in mind. Vlogging or posting anything about life is not wrong unless untill it is within the limits. Protecting ours and other’s privacy and mental health should be important as this could be one of the serious consequences of publicizing lives.
