In contemporary time, there has been an increasing number of people updating their personal information on social media such as address or phone number with communicating and banking purpose. While there are certain advantages, I believe the demerits of this trend outweigh its benefits.

on the one hand, there are some significant advantages of putting people’s personal information online. Firstly, each individuals are able to connect with others easily. For example, in modern technology world, where many life’s aspects are predominantly digitalised, including numerous social media platforms, online shopping, electronic applications. This approach not only simplify the process of filling in personal information to sign in and sign up but also create favorable conditions to look for their friends and families’ contacts without applying traditional ways such as relying on papers records

Another advantage is it beneficial for business. For instance, having personal information’s users may enable them to understand thoroughly the consuming behavior of customers. As a result, they can make more profits from strategy marketing which suit several customers.

On the other hand, the aforementioned advantages of providing personal information on internet pale in comparison with its disadvantages. The first disadvantage is it is likely to leakage their personal information and fall prey to identity theft. For example, user accounts can be hacked. Consequently, cyber-crime can conduct to use their identities’ victims for hoax schemes from personal information leaks and. Another disadvantage can relate to private rights of users on social media. For instance, people tend to be disturbed by harassing message, cold call or junk mail because of selling personal information.

In conclusion, while there has some benefits of putting personal information online, i believe the disadvantages of this trend are more significant.
