Modern society has changed dramatically since the introduction of trash buckets and waste related jobs. Now, people are able to throw away things if they want to. Many times thrown away items and garbage are extremely dangerous for the environment and nature. Since, every person nowadays has this mentality to get rid of things often without sorting, this issue occurs as global, and therefore needs to be tackled with raising awareness among people.
First, it is important to note that about 80 percent of the world population now lives in the cities. While living in apartments in the city, people often have limited space to live in and have no choice but to throw away the trash. Back in the days most people lived a more eco-friendly life by sorting and managing items more sufficiently. People had no waste to throw away somewhere.Unfortunately, today farmed vegetables and milk is considered old-fashioned style of living, but I feel good about it. Since people started living in cities, goods have to be supplied for them. Issue of wrapping meals, vegetables, and food in plastic bags started to occur.
One of the ways of dealing with increased waste production is raising awareness amongst everyone and everywhere. There are a lot of countries that achieved significant goals in reducing plastic garbage, and their cases are heavily significant. Specifically, Japan became the only “free from plastic” country with reducing plastic waste to half of the production they used to do. Their achievement is in regard to people that started noticing that problem in a large scale. All Japanese elementary schools have plastic related problems in their curriculum. Also, every cashier at the store would ask if you want your products to be wrapped in plastic bags.
In conclusion, causes of increasing waste production became inevitable due to people choosing to live in cities rather than in rural areas or villages. While long ago people had no trash and lived eco- friendly life, it is important to know that it is impossible to get back to that way of living. Instead of just claiming the old-fashioned way of living was the best for the environment, we need to focus on the modern way of tackling the problem. Some countries have shown big results in raising awareness among people and we should set an example of that.
