Some people say that the primary requirement when applying for jobs is to have a higher education. I completely agree with this statement because universities teach people to have a growth mindset, such as critical thinking and problem-solving, and provide specific qualifications for a variety of job areas.
Firstly, attending university helps students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This happens because they usually get tasks for analyzing data, writing essays, and resolving hard challenges. Therefore, students can solve a variety of problems using creative ideas. For example, a lecturer in a business degree at the University of Bengkulu gave a test to groups on how to earn millions of rupiah without spending capital. The group that finished first got an ‘A’ for their final score. As a result, they started creating different plans on how to earn money quickly with zero spending.
Secondly, many companies require a university degree for specific jobs because these jobs are linked with people’s lives or complex systems. To solve these problems, people must get a higher education which cannot be learned haphazardly. For instance, many patients need specialist doctors to solve specific cases like diabetes, heart disease, or pregnancy. These must be handled by professionals because they are highly knowledgeable and have huge knowledge to solve these cases. This shows that without legal certification, it is impossible for someone to be accepted in that position, no matter how smart they are.
In conclusion, I completely agree that a degree certificate is the most necessary factor for getting good jobs. This is because higher education not only creates critical thinking but also provides legal qualifications that must be owned for professional roles.
