In recent years, it has become increasingly common for many students to struggle to concentrate at school. While there are clear reasons for this, I believe that excessive screen time and unengaging teaching methods play major roles in this case, as both cause students to disengage and find it difficult to pay attention at school. From my point of view, these issues could be addressed by creating new methods and encouraging students to pursue outdoor activities.
One major reason why students struggle to concentrate at school is the widespread use of traditional teaching methods. When students continuously learn through old approaches, they may find lessons tedious and unengaging, thereby losing interest and motivation to study. As a result, they may struggle to maintain concentration and pay attention during classroom sessions, potentially leading to poor academic performance. For example, students who spend most of their time listening to teachers rather than participating in classroom activities may become less engaged in the learning process and find it difficult to concentrate on their academic subjects.
However, from my perspective, students should be taught using interactive methods to tackle the lack of concentration. Some students face difficulties focusing on lessons because of outdated teaching methods; this may result in students losing motivation and being unable to concentrate during lessons. Nevertheless, these problems can be resolved by using interactive methods, potentially urging students to stay actively engaged at school. When schools start using interesting teaching methods, students can begin participating in lessons more willingly, potentially leading to overall quality of study. A clear example of this can be seen in Finland, where many schools implement engaging teaching approaches and student-centered learning methods, thereby giving students more opportunities and helping them to stay concentrated.
In addition, excessive screen time can also play a vital role in losing interest at school. When students spend much of their time playing video games rather than attending lectures or lessons, they are more likely to become addicted to games than to school subjects, which can negatively affect their academic performance and interest in school. As a result, these activities can cause many students to lose concentration during lessons, leading to lower grades. Despite this, this concern can be addressed by parents’ support in encouraging them to pursue outdoor activities. If students’ parents insist on exercising in nature rather than playing video games, this can help students to concentrate more accurately throughout classroom sessions, fostering their overall well-being. For instance, a student who devotes much of his time to playing video games can negatively affect his academic performance and lose concentration in lessons; parents can come in handy to help their children do outdoor activities, leading to improved overall well-being.
In conclusion, although outdated teaching approaches and excessive screen time create many difficulties for students, I believe that these problems can be addressed through teaching methods and parents encouraging their children to engage in outdoor pursuits.
