It appears that many individuals have been choosing private apartments or houses instead of hotels as their accommodation in recent years. This has been because of a number of reasons, some of which have advantages but also a number of which have disadvantages.
One of the key reasons for this is in pursuit of an increased sense of a real travel experience. Private homes, which are commonly located in places where locals live, offer visitors a chance to experience local life and culture. Private homes are generally cheaper than hotels, especially for longer stays or for groups and families. Online booking such as Airbnb has also made, as well as secured, private home bookings with good reputations and sound payment systems.
Its advantages are enormous. In the first place, it is more practical and flexible. Private rentals bring along much of everything, including complete kitchens, laundry rooms, and several bedrooms, which particularly benefit families. Secondly, it restores the domestic economy since homeowners get to make money from subletting unused space. For example, my friend in Istanbul earns a huge chunk of her income by subletting her apartment to traveling tourists during summers.
However, there are negative aspects. One of them is that there is no consistent quality and service. While hotels are regulated and provide standardized services, private rentals could be completely different in terms of cleanliness, security, and comfort. Another point is that the growing popularity of private rentals has led to shortages of housing and housing prices have increased in certain cities, which has increased the difficulty of finding housing for residents.
On balance, while this private accommodation over hotel trend is a customized and frequently cheaper experience, it does pose challenges on the quality control and housing markets fronts. Tourists and policymakers alike need to strike a balance to ensure this trend works to the advantage of both tourists and the local population.
