Universities have started to use various features of technological developments in their education system. This includes a major switch, where institutes are trying to implement online teaching methods, promoting them more than traditional ones. This action not only boosts students’ productivity by offering them opportunities lacking in live classes but also fosters an efficient use of time. Nevertheless, there are drawbacks that damage the process of preparing individuals into real-life scenarios and problems.
When students leave a class, the vast majority of them usually forget important details about the lecture. Because of that, they might face some challenges while studying at home. Such type of problems can be resolved by online lectures; individuals will be more relieved about the topic as long as everything explained there is recorded. They can later check the recording at any time they desire, therefore accumulating their learning pace. Moreover, there are another benefit of online courses which students can benefit from its efficiency. Instead of traveling for hours and switching public transport frequently, students can join classes within five minutes by only setting up their devices. This helps students save a large amount of time and creates opportunities to spend their time on more efficient tasks.
Although the advantages of online teaching are capable of changing students’ ways of learning, there are some detrimental consequences of this action. In live classes, individuals can do several tasks in different groups, experiencing teamwork diversly with classmates by exchanging ideas and learning how to work together. The listed chances cannot be found in an online environment as students do not feel the same as they do in live classes. Therefore, they cannot prepare themselves for real-life scenarios where they need to work with other people – especially in companies to collaborate with their colleagues. Online teaching also lowers students’ opportunities to create strong bonds with their classmates. It may not affect those pursuing higher education but can cause severe levels of harm to those who just graduated from high school. This will affect them in the future, even leading to social problems like isolation and lack of social interaction with relatives.
In conclusion, it is obvious that education institutions are adapting into the new era of technology by prioritizing online teaching. It can benefit students by offering continuously available sources of information and saving their time whereas the disadvantages are the damages done to social interactions and relationships.
