It is claimed that during the years, young individuals have a tendency to frequently switch their current occupations. There are several factors leading to this situation, and I also believe that while it offers a few drawbacks, the disadvantages are still eclipsed by the advantages.
There are a number of reasons why the young prefer changing their jobs regularly rather than having a stable one. The main cause is that the juniors just stepping out of the school environment often do not acknowledge clearly about their career path orientation. This leads them to give up their current work just within a short period of time, after recognizing that it is not a suitable job for them. Another reason is that, job hopping nowaday is considered by youngsters to be an effective method for earning better career opportunities, followed by their job satisfaction being met. A real-life instance is that recently in Vietnam, after the demand of international and domestic garment markets declined dramatically, causing factories to receive fewer orders, many garment employees decided to quit their occupations to work in agriculture or small businesses, which can provide job stability for them.
From my perspective, shifting jobs also has negative aspects that should not be ignored. In fact, switching to a new job can take young people more time to get intimately familiar with the new environment. As a result, it may take longer for them to be promoted to a higher position when most companies consider seniority as one of the main criteria for evaluation. However, in return, job changes can also help beginner job hunters negotiate with their new workplace for a better benefits package based on the previous work experiences they accumulated. Furthermore, participating in different careers, positions, or work environments helps these people acquire diverse skills and knowledge, training them to adapt better to any changes in the job market without fear. Thanks to those experiences, their value can be enhanced. In addition, this decision also increases the opportunities for youngsters to acknowledge their destiny career path. The more different types of jobs they experience, the more opportunities youngsters have to find the one that can awaken their inner passion and make them willing to spend their whole lives getting along with it.
In conclusion, unclear career orientation and ambitions to upgrade job satisfaction are the primary causes of continuous job change in the young today. Although this trend causes some negative aspects to some extent, its merits are more significant than its drawbacks.
